It was up to the year 1989 a symbol of divided Berlin and Germany, it is now a national symbol for unity, and thus one of the most famous landmark.

Checkpoint Charlie was one of the most famous border crossing points in Berlin where the Soviet Union joined with the American sector. Today he is one of the few focal points to remember the dark era of the division of Berlin.

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, briefly referred to the Holocaust Memorial, was officially opened in 2005. In the immediate vicinity of the Brandenburg Gate is the wavy field of pillars.

The ruined church is the best known landmark of Berlin's Kurfürstendamm. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church was in the postwar years as a symbol of the "risen from the ruins Berlin".  

The "temple of light and glass" by Mies van der Rohe is an icon of classical modernism. In addition to many special exhibitions, the collection of art from the 20th Century can be found here.

For a long time it was the most spectacular site in Berlin. In 2008 the Potsdamer Platz celebrated its 10th anniversary and is a much visited tourist attraction.

Once built to commemorate won wars, shines the "Gold-Else" today on top of the Great Star in Tiergarten and offers a beautiful view over the city from its platform.

The oldest zoo in Germany is located as a green oasis in the middle of the City-West and is home to around 15 000 animals. He is regarded as the zoo with the most species in the world.
